I'm blogging about this two weeks late, so please forgive me. But at least I'm starting to catch up. Two weeks ago, five (crazy?) men from our Sunday School had a mens-only canoe trip. They canoed about thirty miles down our local river in two days and tent-camped overnight. These were some brave men, and let me tell you why.
A) During the first day of the canoe trip, it was so windy, the wind actually pushed the canoes (all loaded with gear and men) upriver, unless the guys paddled furiously. They ended up making a makeshift sail for when they rounded a curve and the wind was actually able to help them.
B) Overnight, the temps hit 37 degrees Farenheit
C) Also overnight, (in the wee hours of morning) a HUGE thunderstorm hit. The guys waited it out until about 8 AM and continued on. Big, Burly Men.
My husband had sore sore arms and very funny sunburns from where his shorts (yes, shorts) exposed his legs. But I believe that it was a lot of fun for them, and at least a good chance for some male bonding. Here are some pics from the send-off.
